Tombées du Camion, 17 Rue Joseph de Maistre 75018 Paris

So I mentioned a couple of days ago the shop "Tombées du Camion" which Vicki and I stumbled across during our walk around Montmartre.
I actually can't stop thinking about how quirky the experience was and how much I'd like to share a bit of it with you.

We noticed a beheaded doll in the window and were oddly interested in what was inside. There was some quirky, upbeat music playing and the shop keeper, a young man around my age with wild eyes and a bristly beard and beanie was hiding away in the corner nodding his head to the beat. Inside, there were endless wooden boxes full of random items in the dozens. Grease fridge magnets, plastic fish, mickey mouse charms, Christmas bon bon rings, plastic army figures, and google eyes with eyelashes. Jars lined the walls full of barbie doll arms, collectible match boxes, Japanese 5 yen coins, and fishing lures.

It reminded me so strongly of the old tin box of tiny playthings and hidden memories of the boy in Amelie that she finds in a hollowed out part of the wall in her bathroom, and made me think also of the phrase "one man's junk, another man's treasure."

If you're ever in Paris, please spend at least half an hour in here and find yourself a souvenir that isn't something being sold by every vendor on the street. A little bit of history of Paris can be found in every item in the store.
