Southbound
I took a train down south on Monday. I checked my schedule for work and was happy to see a perfect sunny day accompanying my trip to Sydney to see friends who had lived in Paris when I was there. I was up and out before the sun, and meeting Fintan for coffee in central Sydney all before 10am that morning.
We talked and talked and walked and walked, taking photos in the graffiti tunnel at U Syd and getting lunch with Jane and David in Newtown, and then after gelato and a train ride back towards Circular Quay, we did the tourist walk around to Macquarie Point where the harbour's reflective light dazzled us, framing the bridge and Opera House perfectly, as if to say "Welcome to 'Straya".
Catching up with people who had shared such a rich, inspiring experience was such a blessing. We are lucky to be living so relatively close to each other when we're separated from everyone else who is still on the other side of the world, in a totally separate hemisphere and doing different things. To have a reminder that what happened was real and has made changes to our futures. And to just have a good time with good friends. It was an exhaustingly great day and I can't wait to catch up again with these rascals.
