Les Flaneurs
Feeling the ending of a good thing creeping up on us, Ryan, Fintan and I decided to take a walk around the city. I was watching a film the other night, L'Écume des Jours (based on the book by Boris Vian), where the two characters who fell in love took a walk through an old, abandoned railway line in Paris. La Petite Ceinture ("little belt"), the predecessor for the metro that Paris has today, makes its way around the outer border of the city's 20 arrondissements and has been abandoned since early last century. Fortunately, parts of the tracks are still easily accessible to the public, and it has become a place for getting lost, for street art, and for photography too. It's just you and the history of the place and not much else.
