Vacatia in Croatia - The Beginning
Croatia:
After a Titanic reference-filled 12 hour journey from Ancona, Italy, we made it into the port of Split, Hrvastka at 7:30 am with no sense of direction or of the scale of the place. Elly and I first located our Hostel "Booze n Snooze" (the name's meaning becoming apparent later on that evening) and there we met Alex, a chubby Englishman from Hampshire with a love for three things: spinning obscure webs of lies, proposing to any moving object with breasts, and getting on the party featuring repetitive fist pumping as a dance move of choice. Alex would later that evening take us on a pub crawl/backpackers dinner out.
We finally met up with Josh after grabbing some fresh fruits from the Green market, and the three of us bought gelati and wandered along the promenade before getting stuck in to a huge piece of watermelon and then hitting the beach.
The water was soothing from the hot Dalmatian sun and we lay about on the pebbles giggling and chilling the hell out.
That night, Alex took all us backpackers to Fife down at the end of the Riva promenade, dinner was something ridiculous like 8 dollars and it was a pretty mean spread. I had a cordon bleu which resembled a chicken schnitty so the night was off to a good start.
Next stop - Charlie's bar.
Reasons why this place is tops: the two barmaids are gorgeous. One is pretty and voluptuous and the other pulls the greatest dance moves behind the bar and revels in sassiness.
Drink enough and you get to drink more - for free! About a third of our drinks were on the house.
The music - C'est la vie by bewitched played. As did John Farnham. Of course there is some legitimately good stuff too - but it always got our bodies moving.
Within 20 minutes I was booty shaking with a Canadian guy who goes by the name of Kelly. I also outside met four absolutely gorgeous, young British boys and formed a band with them made entirely of ridiculous musical instruments.
We ended up at a bar on the beach and then josh and I decided that we were suddenly very sober and called it a night. Those dreary faces the morning after decided to pack a towel and sunscreen and pop a couple of nurofen tablets and we all set off in a bomb of a car to Krka national park to ride a ferry boat up the river to the waterfalls. There we all swam in the current, collected together upright on rocks like meerkats and took waterfall selfies with the go pro before retiring to the side of the hill in the shade where we all had severe snoozies. It was just a bunch of Aussie boys from brissy, all completely different, and a Canadian girl and 2 other girls from Essex and us.
That night when we got back josh and I said farewell to Elly and took a 1 hour ferry ride full of giggles and Miranda sings impersonations to the island of Brač - out home for the next two days.
